February Monthly Horoscope

February begins amidst eclipse season as the lunar eclipse in Leo just occurred on the last day of January. As this colourful Leo lunation was tightly conjunct Corn Goddess Ceres, we’re acutely aware of dormant seeds of creative potential that are now ripe for being developed. We’re now almost halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, shifting from darkness to light.

On February 8, Uranus leaves the 5° orb of its square to Pluto. Since 2009, these two have danced in and out of this 90-degree angle, culminating in the series of seven squares in 2012–2015. Collectively and personally, we have finally turned a corner.

The Aquarius solar eclipse on February 15 occurs at 27° Aquarius is sextile this sign’s ruler, Uranus, reminding us to value our newfound freedom and open our mind to different perspectives. This is a partial South Node eclipse, visible only from Argentina and the snowy depths of Antarctica. Aquarius, the Water Bearer, tends to display cool characteristics with friendly and unattached interest towards fellow humans.

Some of your thoughts will turn to companionship and love. Health and medicine are others topics of discussion to come from this eclipse, especially mental health issues and women’s health issues. This eclipse asks us to heal wounds of betrayal and to clear patterns of jealousy, by deepening into self-love — the path of the Leo North Node

We become more forgiving of our differences by February 18, when the Sun enters Pisces, illuminating a swelling tide of compassion, because there are now five planetary bodies swimming in these ethereal waters. The need for retreat,
as we draw towards the end of the astrological year, is even more pronounced when soldier Mars perfects a square to pacifist Neptune on February 17. This aspect continues to echo in the background until the end of the month. Care is needed that we don’t confuse resting with giving up.
