This is the card of nightmares, fears, and despair. The card depicts the image of a man holding his head in his hands. It seems as if he is distressed over a nightmare. The nighttime, flying bats, and the overall atmosphere indicates his fear, anxiety, and depression. The hanging swords symbolize the pessimism and negative thoughts occupying his mind.

The bats symbolize his ability to navigate through the dark and release all the fears crushing his soul and stifling his growth. They bring encouragement to trust his abilities. When the nine of swords card appears, it suggests you let go of your fears. You are overly stressed because of something, and this stress is ruling your life at this moment.

You have to calm your nerves and rise above the demons of negativity that are weighing you down. The card reminds you that your thoughts drive your actions. If you keep thinking negatively about yourself, it might turn right. Break the shackles of negativity to free yourself.
