Lunar Eclipse in Leo January 21 2019
January 21 2019
The Full Moon on Monday January 20/21, 2019 in the first degree of Leo is a total lunar eclipse. On Sunday night the 20th, there's set to be a rare "super blood wolf moon" from 9:36 p.m. EST to 12:31 a.m. EST. Despite the werewolf undertones of its name, a "super blood wolf moon" is just a lunar eclipse that occurs on the first full moon of the year — but it's still a powerful, transformative time.
This closeness makes the moon visually appear a little bigger for us in the sky than usual, though this can happen several times during a lunar year, "Blood" refers to the reddish hue the earth's shadow casts on the Moon during a lunar eclipse.
It signifies a need to get out and achieve. Urgency, excitement, and a desire to gain knowledge combine with the eclipse’s usual intensity to make for a supercharged time. Leo taps into pride and a keenness to save face, knowing how much reputation counts. A challenging square aspect to Uranus the planet of uncertainty and rebellion brings change but also opportunity.
Moon square Uranus causes rapid mood swings and impulsive reactions. You may feel jumpy and have little patience for anything requiring commitment or focus. If anyone tries to tie you down or forced you to do something you are likely to rebel. This is not a good eclipse for making sudden changes, especially in close relationships. New encounters may meet your need for a thrill but would cause a great deal of upset to your life and have a negative effect on loved ones.
The lunar eclipse won’t just impact you on the 20th—you’ll likely feel its effects until July 16, when the next lunar eclipse takes place. There will be a drive to make some readjustments in your life. You’ll want to do what makes you happy.
That may mean rethinking your career path, pursuing a personal passion, or deciding that you’re ready to date again after a breakup—whatever it is, it’s all good.
Mercury square Uranus can cause nervous tension because of the unsettling feeling. This is not a good eclipse for making plans or attending to detailed paperwork due to lack of concentration
With the Full Moon combining Leo and Aquarius energies, we can see how children still need to have fun, even when achieving so try not be overly serious or conform to suffocating traditions. Uranus in fast and furious Aries points to a wild-child element with the potential for sudden rebellion. So keeping an open mind and staying calm and patient is key to dealing with this erratic and unpredictable energy.
Impulsive reactions, rapid mood swing and miscommunication could cause panic and chaos. On the positive side, you have an increased ability to view things through a different perspective, which can lead to original ideas and breakthroughs.
Lunar eclipses are often associated with change, mystery, and upheaval. As this one coincides with the first full moon of the regular calendar year, it's a good time to contemplate what things such as ideas, habits, practices you may wish to leave behind, and what you want to bring into your life and build upon for the year to come. Many of us made ambitious resolutions at the start of the new year, and this weekend is a good time to reevaluate what's serving us, and what's no longer useful.
