Jupiter in Sagittarius

While the Planet Jupiter transits Sagittarius, from 9 November 2018 to 3 December 2019, there is a strong urge to move on, to improve things, to have more freedom of movement, to accept and learn from other cultures and to make the world a better place. Sagittarius is a Fire sign and with Fire sign Jupiter in its home sign, we identify strongly with our own opinions, beliefs and perceptions.  We may take it quite personally if others disagree with us. We create our own opportunities, and we are at your best when we are thinking in big terms, taking calculated risks, and displaying confidence.

Jupiter in Sagittarius encourages us to develop our understanding of the world and ourselves, through pursuits that stretch our minds. Travel, philosophy, academia, literature, publishing, morality, law, and belief systems all challenge us to go beyond what we know and to question our judgements.

There may be challenges to any bigotry, patriarchal or short-sighted attitudes, to make us more broadminded and forward looking. To increase tolerance and acceptance of others and their ways of life and to respect the freedom and the right of everyone to follow their own path.

Jupiter’s effects are to expand our experiences, our knowledge, and our understanding. Jupiter represents optimism, growth, generosity, joy, and abundance. In Scorpio, Jupiter expanded our awareness of our intimate relationships, personal power, and coping skills.

Moderation doesn’t come naturally to either Jupiter or the sign that it rules. We may feel over-confident to the point of recklessness, or we may slip into a “know it all” stance, if this energy is mishandled. Restlessness and dissatisfaction are likely to increase as visions of a new future open up and increased riches and a better way of life are sought after.

This is a time when we are inspired to learn more, to take a wider view, explore some new area of life or take off on some new adventure to find greener pastures and to determine what it is that gives us joy–what truly is important in our lives in the long run. A time when the urge to break free from current responsibilities and commitments grows and discontent and dissatisfaction with the way things in our personal life increases.
