Venus in Aquarius

This year, the planet of love’s entry into bold and unique Aquarius is even more unusual than ever. Venus follows hot on the heels of Mars, who is just a few minutes ahead of her, into the sign of the Waterbearer on March 6th at 1:30am EST. Thus, for the rest of her time in Aquarius, we cannot think of Venus without keeping her consort in mind.

When these two cosmic lovers are kissing in the heavens, our life on earth below reflects their passion, ardor and lust, and sometimes, their conflict. Venus is the Archetypal mistress – a pleasure-loving temptress, Venus in Aquarius takes on a cool, detached and even somewhat mysterious energy. Somehow, she constantly slips right through your fingers, and you never feel like you completely have her love. Her attention is given to the love of wisdom, time with her beloved friends and the pursuit of unusual experiences.

And, with Mars close by during her entire stay in Aquarius until April 5th, these free-love Aquarian qualities are amplified to the maximum. Venus and Mars in Aquarius love everyone, without barriers, class, race or gender. In fact, the more different and removed from the norm, the better. Aquarius doesn’t follow the crowd, and Venus in Aquarius is known for her unique, sometimes stranger tastes in relationships.

Venus also rules our values, and Aquarius is a progressive, community-orientated sign. So, even though Venus is mainly associated with romantic relationships, in Aquarius, her energy is given to all – her friends, her lover, her pets and her neighbors. Love is not for one person alone, which may make some of us feel insecure or clingy. And there’s nothing Venus in Aquarius shuns more than feeling stifled, controlled or being inundated with a lover’s demands. This placement needs freedom and space, and if this is given, her love flows freely.

And it’s not to say that Aquarius can’t commit - this is a fixed sign, and thus, Venus in Aquarius has the ability to commit with her whole heart and soul. This is a time of the year when relationships can become more solid and stable, albeit with a kink – and that kink is the space to be ourselves most fully, without restriction.

Venus will briefly square Uranus and conjunct Saturn throughout the month, both of which are co-rulers of Aquarius. This may bring along some unpredictability in our relationships and material world, but eventually, we’ll take responsibility and guide things back to a more stable place. Let’s not forget that Venus also rules finances, and with her being in Aquarius, we may be more detached and objective when it comes to the, material world, valuing knowledge, friendship and community much higher than money in the bank.
