Full Moon in Libra

As Venus, ruler of Libra, finally starts her direct motion after 40 days and 40 nights of retrograde, a Full Moon in this same sign illuminates the skies, pointing the way back toward our hearts.

It’s been a wild ride.

Our love, our values, our resources, who and what we truly care about—these have all been turned on their heads, tossed about, and shaken down for good measure.

It’s time for balance to be restored. For peace to return. For order to return. For justice to be done.

We reap what we sow, advises this Libra lunation. All the choices we’ve made (or haven’t made) are rising up to meet us. It’s, as always, a culmination of energy. Relationships come to the forefront now, asking us to integrate our sovereignty with the deep need to connect. It’s not one or the other—unless, of course, the situation is such that the scales have to tip in one direction.

In any case, whether we are choosing ourselves, choosing a relationship, or choosing both equally, the feeling is one of deep, profound commitment. During Venus retrograde, we’ve been churning in the uneasy realms of love and desire, reflecting deeply on our patterns of interaction, our connection to security, to ourselves, to what sacrifice means for us, and where our ideals have fallen short.

As this Libran Full Moon ignites our hearts, it’s time to listen closely and to commit or quit  - fully. Venus’s link to Saturn, the cosmic taskmaster, won’t accept anything less than total, complete devotion. It’s a solid kind of devotion.. It won’t wither away at the first sight of trouble. It’s the kind of devotion we’re willing to give—and receive—because we’ve walked through the fire. Because we’ve come to love because of rather than despite someone’s flaws.

Venus is also linked to Mars via a sweet, sweet trine, allowing passion to flow through. It’s not all just hard work and commitment. The reward for all of our efforts is right here, demonstrated in our feeling worlds, our emotional states, our soulful, emotional connections.

It’s also a moment of achievement for the creative endeavors that we’ve put our hearts and souls into. If we’ve been weaving our way, but perhaps not finding any light at the end of the tunnel, then this is the first glimmer. There’s flow again, easing the stagnancy, showing us that nothing has truly gone to waste. The waters of our creative energy, our life force, are ready to pour in and ease our way into love, into passion, into vulnerability, yet in a way that’s contained.

Practically speaking, this Full Moon shows us all the ways in which we’ve become either codependent or overly self-sufficient. It reminds us that we need each other to survive, that relationships are an essential piece of the human experience. We can choose now to engage deeper or to create space for something more aligned to come into our field.
