Full Moon in Scorpio
May’s Full Moon in the sign of Scorpio has a bite to it. A sting, if you will.
La Luna’s tenderness is hidden under the cloak-and-dagger energy of the Scorpion, hinting at shadows simmering beneath the surface and emotions kept carefully under wraps – only to explode at the slightest provocation.
Meanwhile, the Sun lies in peaceful Taurus – a sign that refuses drama, denies change, and resists transformation. This can be a stabilising energy for the volatile Moon, or it may serve as a frustration.
As with all Full Moons, the aim is balance. Balance between peace and power, between change and stability, between the physical and the psychological.
What psychological wounds are emerging at this time? What shadows are being revealed? What power plays, old habits, situations, or relationships are coming to light? And how can we use this energy for transmutation?
Scorpio has six distinct faces. Seven guises. The first of these is the snake – a symbol of shedding. This creature is, still, the least evolved of all the aspects of Scorpio. Next on the scale is the scorpion, then the spider, the lizard, the wolf, the eagle, and finally, the Phoenix.
This Full Moon illuminates which of these creatures reflect our current state. It behooves us to study carefully – without judgement, without fear – where we are, exactly, on our personal path of evolution. How have we grown – or refused to grow? Where have we held on, not surrendered, attempted to ‘win’ that which is unwinnable – or at the very least, frustrating?
Scorpio is a sign that clings until the very last moment – the twelfth hour. And at this point – the melting point, the moment of crisis – this sign finally releases. And in that moment, is reborn.
So, do we stay tethered to the ground? Or do we boldly begin the slow, painful, deep journey of rising up?
Ruled by Mars in Leo, there’s an abundance of boldness available to us. Mars and Pluto are still separating from an intense opposition – the last of several – which means we’re slowly regaining our power. We’re recovering. We’re remembering that we are sovereign.
Mercury is moving towards a square with said Mars, which does, admittedly, raise the temperature and bring the chance for verbal explosions – if we’re not clear. If we’re not authentic. If we haven’t dealt with our demons.
Trine Venus, there is a softness too. Venus lends her diplomacy to the mix and favours connection over war. It’s a subtle aspect, but one that can be leveraged.
In the end, it’s not about how deeply we’ve loved – but rather, how gracefully we’ve learned to let go of the things not meant for us.
