Zodiac Systems

Choose between tropical (Western) astrology, which uses the seasons as reference points, or sidereal (Vedic) astrology, which aligns with actual constellation positions. Most Western astrologers use tropical, while Vedic practitioners prefer sidereal. The tropical zodiac is our default setting.

House Systems

Select from multiple house division methods including Placidus (most popular in modern Western astrology), Whole Sign houses (traditional and increasingly popular), Equal house system, Koch, Campanus, and others. Placidus is the default, but Whole Sign houses are recommended for beginners due to their simplicity.

Location Precision

Birth location determines your Ascendant and house cusps with precision. We use geographic coordinates and automatic timezone correction to ensure accurate calculations. Even small location differences can shift house cusps by several degrees, especially for births at higher latitudes.

Birth Time and Location Accuracy

Why Birth Time Matters

Your birth time determines your Ascendant (rising sign) and the entire house system in your chart. The Ascendant changes zodiac signs approximately every 2 hours and moves through roughly 1 degree every 4 minutes. This means even small time inaccuracies can shift house cusps and change the houses where planets reside.

Unknown Birth Time Options

If you don't know your exact birth time, you have several approaches. A noon chart (using 12:00 PM) provides accurate planetary sign positions but approximate house placements. This gives you valuable information about planetary energies while acknowledging house uncertainty.

Birth Certificates

The most reliable source for birth time is your official birth certificate. Most hospitals record birth time, though precision varies. Contact your birth hospital or vital records office if you need to obtain this information.

Location Specificity

Birth location should be as specific as possible - ideally the city and hospital where you were born. We convert this to precise latitude and longitude coordinates. Location determines your local sidereal time, which is essential for calculating the Ascendant and house cusps.
