New Moon in Scorpio
Sorcery, alchemy, and rituals abound on November 1st with a witchy New Moon in powerful Scorpio. La Luna, our tender Moon, isn’t always at her best in this most intense of signs. She is known as ‘fallen’ here, according to ancient Astrology . Fallen brings to mind a darker expression of the Feminine energy that the Moon carries, much like Lilith, the shadow aspect of Eve.
Nevertheless, Scorpio is the Master (or Mistress) of sacred alchemy. There are several expressions of this sign, from the slithery snake and the creepy spider to the powerful wolf, and finally, the proud Phoenix.
We all have a choice about which of these vibrations we choose to align with. We might crawl in these shadows, fearful of our own darkness, or we might take a light—the light of consciousness—and gleefully peer into Pandora’s box to see what we might learn.
Mars, as the traditional ruler of Scorpio, lies in sensitive Cancer, where he, too, is debilitated and held back from his fullest Warrior expression. Here, Mars may act out as the cosmic crybaby. It’s important to remember that just because we feel a thing doesn’t mean it’s a fact. That also doesn’t mean our feelings are invalid. It’s simply a cosmic reminder that our internal world often reflects our outer realities.
With Mars’s opposition to Pluto—Kala, Persephone, Hades—there’s much that will be dug up over the coming months. Much that relates to family skeletons, old resentments, buried emotions, and trauma. We have the choice, as we always do, to draw on these experiences and allow them to transform us, or to wait for an external situation, person, or relationship to trigger the process. Let’s face it: it’s always better to be the one in the driver’s seat.
Though, with that said, being in control is Scorpio's worst nemesis. As much as this sign craves complete dominance, it also yearns for sweet surrender to the unknown. So, in a way, over this New Moon and the several months to follow, might we hold this tender dilemma with gentle care? In what way in which can we deal with the murkiness that is bound to arise, keeping in mind that even the glistening lotus has her roots in the mud?
There’s hope. Mars is communicating with Neptune, and with these three planets—Mars, Pluto, and Neptune—all at the twenty-ninth degree of their respective signs, there’s business to be closed. Endings of old, resentful cycles. Forgiveness is showing her face. Help is at hand. When we tune into our deeper desires, our deepest yearnings, we’ll find that what awaits is love, love, and the desire to be as close as we can be with whatever we deem most divine in our world. This may be our partnerships, our family, or our friends. Scorpio does nothing unless it’s deep and meaningful. So - what is it that is deep, meaningful, and worth sacrificing for? How vast is our love, our desire and our commitment to evolution?
