Solar Eclipse in Gemini

On June 10th, at 6:52 am EDT, an annular Solar Eclipse is happening in the busy, restless, and change-making sign of Gemini. Occurring at 19 degrees of this analytical air sign, this Solar Eclipse can accelerate the start of important events for us here on Earth, particularly those of us with planets in one of the mutable signs (Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Virgo) between 17 – 21 degrees.

However, for all of us, whatever our planetary placements, this Eclipse can be felt on a visceral level. It’s part of a series since the middle of 2020 and is speeding forward the topics of education, travel, information, and communication.

It’s clear to see that this topic, especially travel, has been topsy-turvy of late. It’s hard to know what’s going on, whether in our personal world or the world at large. Plans that we have had are changing rapidly, which is no surprise, seeing as the sign of Gemini rules change!

How many times have we had to go back to the drawing board in the last few months? How many travel plans or problems with education have cropped up, and not to mention the wildfire-like spread of confusing misinformation! The reason for this confusion is the planet Neptune’s configuration to most of these Eclipses, and especially this one.

We may be tempted to press that reset button once again but are cautioned to go slow and check all our facts before we do so. Neptune is the kind of planet that has its terms and conditions in the finest of print, where we are least able to notice it. Hence let us check and double-check our facts before we make decisions or share information, especially seeing as the ruler of this Eclipse is a Retrograde Mercury!

A Solar Eclipse is also a kind of universal accelerator, moving forward the dates of big life events. It can feel as if life is happening to you rather than for you. However, Eclipses are meant to do exactly that, as humans have the habit of staying stuck in a comfort zone until we get pushed out of the nest! Shifting our perspective on what this Eclipse brings to the table rather than beating our hands against the heavens is a much more constructive way to deal with the chaotic and unpredictable energies around this time.

We have to also keep in mind that Saturn and Uranus are building up towards their second square of 2021, which also heralds sudden disruptions and changes to the structures of our lives, structures that we thought were stable. This, plus the Eclipse during a Mercury Retrograde, can feel like the walls are tumbling down, but if we look beneath the rubble, it’s clear that there’s treasure to be found. After all, Eclipses are about new beginnings! There’s a saving grace to this Eclipse – it’s linked via a trine to Saturn, which promises the integration of the changes that come our way, and the stepping up to take responsibility. It offers the chance to connect with community and make our way into our own authority, which is important if we want to sidestep the miscommunication and confusion that this Eclipse can bring!
