Full Moon in Capricorn

A sturdy, serious Full Moon in the sign of the cosmic Sea Goat illuminates the skies on July 10th. This comes at a time when many major planets – Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter – have moved in new signs. The energy is, largely, masculine – aka, active and outward-looking, innovative and energetic. It’s a new era.

Yet, La Luna in Capricorn isn’t at her most comfortable. She rides the heavens in a dim kind of splendor, uneasy, fearful of her vulnerability, uncertain if she can show how sensitive she truly is. Yet, her crowning glory is the Capricorn drive for success and power. At this moment, all of the energy that’s been channeled into our goals is now coming to a head.

Do we like what we see?

Could we have done better?

What vision do we need to release in order to create the needed space for new endeavours?

Not allowing insecurities to overcome our accomplishments is crucial. Especially seeing as Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, has newly entered the sign of his detriment, Aries. Aries likes to go fast, solo, boldly and bravely tackling new and exciting challenges. Saturn slows it all down. Saturn puts the brakes on, and sagely reminds us that the best things in life don’t come that fast or that easy. Thus we might even feel a little frustrated at our achievements. That they aren’t good enough. Polished enough. That they don’t reflect our essence enough.

Saturn’s conjunction with Neptune, only perfecting in 2026, is a cosmic reminder that to fall into illusion and delusion is folly, whether we’re seeing ourselves as ‘less than’ or ‘more than’. Our self-image and dreams for the future need to be rooted in reality. How we express ourselves needs to be true and authentic. If we’re feeling not good enough, not worthy, then that’s our truth – but it’s not all of who we are.

We are not our shortcomings, nor are we the goals that we never accomplished or achieved imperfectly. Let this be our gospel on this shaky Full Moon.

Supporting La Luna is Mars in Virgo, with a strong energising trine. No matter how unsure or insecure we feel, Mars helps us to stand up and fight – to do better, to look at the details we missed. To perfect, discern, define. We can improve, yes. But to overlook all that we’ve already done – well, that’s also folly. Balancing our perspective is important.

With the Sun in Cancer, our conscious desire is simply to feel safe – emotionally, materially and otherwise. The work we do, in whatever form that takes, goes a long way towards building this inner foundation. For in order for our tree to grow tall, our roots must be invested in a deeper sense of inner security. Outer security can only last when the foundations are strong.
