Distraction

Distraction

Shadow: A pattern of using distraction to dodge discomfort—feelings, decisions, or grief that the psyche would rather not feel yet.

Areas of life that may be affected:

  • Emotional life: feelings may be numbed with busyness, scrolling, or constant mental “noise,” delaying true processing.
  • Relationships: presence may drop—attention shifts away from repair, intimacy, or honest conversations.
  • Work & goals: effort can scatter; meaningful milestones may get postponed in favor of easier stimulation.
  • Self-trust: you may doubt your own priorities because avoidance creates a loop of “not now.”
