The Vesta person experiences devotion as self-renewing; the Saturn person experiences it as a debt that must be managed.

The Saturn person's presence can either stabilize the Vesta person's focus or dampen it. Yet the Vesta person's refusal to calculate cost or negotiate intensity may also trigger the Saturn person's fear of depletion or loss of control. They may withdraw into skepticism, or begin to monitor or restrict what the Vesta person devotes themselves to, believing this is protection. A concrete moment: the Vesta person stays late again, tending something that matters; the Saturn person remarks on the time, the exhaustion, the risk, not out of care, but out of need to make the commitment reasonable. The Vesta person hears: your devotion is too much, and I don't trust it.

The Saturn person's caution need not extinguish the Vesta person's flame, nor must the Vesta person's intensity force the Saturn person into perpetual vigilance. The real work is learning that devotion can be both boundless and wise, that the Saturn person's questions about sustainability are not attacks on the sacred, and that the Vesta person's refusal to shrink their commitment is not recklessness. Both people must resist the urge to convert the other: the Saturn person to stop trying to make the flame manageable, the Vesta person to stop experiencing limits as betrayal.
