Full Moon in Aries
It’s the first lunation since Eclipse season. The dust has been kicked up, revealing all kinds of shadow and underbelly. Under the auspices of this New Moon in Warrior Aries, we’re encouraged to be as bold and brave as possible. Now’s the time to tackle our demons with the sword of courage, trusting that we will - and have conquered any and all challenges we’ve faced and will still face.
This is an ending. The ending of a battle, the closure of a chapter. A small chapter, perhaps, but an end nonetheless. Goodbyes pave the way for a fresh start—a concept familiar to the Aries archetype, the first of the zodiac signs. Aries live for beginnings.
The lesson here is to learn to wrap things up with grace, rather than simply marching away from the scene of the battle, bloodied and bruised, uncaring as to what the fallout is—or perhaps simply unaware. After all, Aries is not known as naive for nothing. New horizons are far more exciting than gazing too deeply into the past.
Balancing this Aries Moon is the Sun in relationship-oriented Libra, reminding us that no one is an island. That we need others. That the reason we go to war is to ultimately create peace. Peace allows us to flourish, to create, to connect with those we love more deeply, and to live in harmony. These two signs can work beautifully together when they recognize each other’s gifts.
Ruling La Luna is Mars in his domicile sign of Scorpio. Scorpio is also warlike, but with more strategy, more cunning, more tact. Aries tends to rely on brawns and brawls—it’s the muscle behind the strategy. Thus, these two energies work perfectly together. With a Scorpio Mars at his back, the Aries Moon energy moves forward with a plan rather than impulsively, blindly dashing into any new venture.
Mars is linked to his cosmic lover, Venus in Virgo, via an opportunity-driven sextile. Once again, we see the qualities of masculine energy (Aries/Mars) working harmoniously with feminine energies (Libra, Venus). This makes it a beautiful Full Moon for relationships. We’re coming to the culmination of a connection and perhaps feeling more solid and attracted than ever before.
This alchemical union may also be felt internally, where our own inner masculine and feminine energies flow together smoothly—if we allow it. The work we’ve been doing, relationally or personally, is paying off.
This comes as a breath of relief, seeing as Mars has somewhat recently separated from a square with Pluto. This may have resulted in an intense build-up of energies over the last few weeks. Now that the intensity has settled, we have the ability to both assert ourselves and find a middle ground.
Mercury has just entered Scorpio, casting an almost immediate square to Pluto. So, some tension might not be fully over. Our minds might run rampant, obsessively—but with Arean courage, we’re able to tackle the darkness without a shred of self doubt.
