New Moon in Pisces

It’s the first New Moon after an intensely felt Eclipse Season, bringing a collective sigh of sweet relief. The karmic lessons are done - for now. Yet, there might still be some debris floating around, needing to be assimilated and integrated, gently processed rather than brushed away.

The sweet Pisces New Moon on March 18th is perfect for just that. It brings a soothing, tender, forgiving energy. Healing is nigh now. Initiating spiritual rituals are balm for the soul: lighting a candle and murmuring heartfelt prayers to the Great Mother, the Sky Father, the holy guides and angels, to our own Divine selves that have paved the way and made the lessons a little easier. Devotional energy is what Pisces is best at.

What do we wish to devote ourselves to at this moment in time? What deserves our sacred sacrifice, our utter worship? Do we wish to serve at the altar of love? Of spiritual expansion? Of following our sacred path? Of family, home or hearth?

For any sacrifice to be worth it, it needs to be deeply meaningful. Personal.

It needs to not take on the energy of victimisation, but rather, of loving service freely chosen. Only then will we walk away unscathed, satisfied that we gave all we could to what we loved most, regardless of what we get back in return, if anything at all. New Moons are ideal manifestation moments. Occurring at the second last degree of Pisces, this lunation communicates the need to finish something whilst beginning something else. To end a cycle with grace and consciously look forward to the new chapter. Pisces holds all the energies of each and every sign: it is the sign of completion, surrender and transcendence.

Sextile Uranus, there’s the distinct possibility that whatever we set out to do, we’ll do it with originality, sprinkling our own unique flavour into the mix. Surprises are common under the influence of the cosmic Sky God. In this case, the surprises are pleasant - even fun. There’s freedom to be had. Play. Experiences to be welcomed. Thrills to be embraced. The new is coming in - and it’s up to us to make use of the opportunities being offered. Otherwise, they might simply pass us by, unnoticed and unused.

Jupiter, as the traditional ruler of Pisces, sits in his exaltation sign of Cancer, gently supporting the expansion of this New Moon. It’s emotional. Sensitive. Big feelings are inevitable. Square Venus, there’s a gentle reminder not to over-give, over-extend, over-do. We are enough. We don’t need to prove anything to be loved or approved of. We don’t need to go to extremes or indulge ourselves or others to feel worthy. Adventure and comfort both have their place in our future, once we learn to balance any excesses characteristic of Pisces gone awry. Besides, Pisces soon tires of the purely material world: it needs more. More depth. More meaning. More love. More forgiveness. More compassion.
