Full Moon in Leo
February dawns bright and shiny with a Full Moon in the sign of the cosmic Lioness. Fiercely loving and deeply protective, La Luna in Leo reminds us that we have a heart. To listen to its guiding beat, to the blood that rushes through our veins and lights us up with passion, is balm for the weary parts of us that overthink, overanalyse, and mentally overcook.
With the ruler of Leo, the Sun, in futuristic Aquarius, it’s ever so tempting to be a million years ahead - to miss what’s right in front of us, staring us in the face. The love we already have. The creative gifts we carry. A family that loves and adores us. Passion that lights us up from the inside. The innate confidence that comes from expressing who we truly are, from valuing ourselves as unique individuals who deserve to shine.
Of course, Aquarian energy has its place too. What’s the point of pursuing a passion if it has no roots in our future? What about who we’re becoming? Who we’re evolving into? How can we give our gifts back to society? How can we learn to not only receive love, attention, and praise, but also give it to those who need it? How can we both attract and inspire? Circumstances - whether related to romance, friendship, profession, children, or community - reveal these questions to us for reflection. Which connections need to be nurtured, and which ones released to make space for more of us to be expressed? Are there people in our field who don’t see or support the beings we are becoming? Who don’t offer the space we need to glow, beam, and be as bright as we’d like?
Are we shrinking ourselves just to fit in?
Belonging and fitting in are two very different things. The former allows us to be who we are and be accepted for it. The latter asks us to change who we are in order not to lose friends, community, or family. Yet dwelling in a space of inauthenticity in order to ‘belong’ is unhealthy in the long run. Eventually, resentment builds. This Full Moon may bring these emotions and insights to the surface, inviting us to dig deep into the parts of us that need greater expression. Opposite Mars, we may swing between assertion and keeping the peace. Opposite Venus, we’re asked to be mindful of superficiality or people-pleasing borne from the fear of loss.
Choices upon choices lie ahead. Relationships and circumstances always arise at Full Moons to show us the mirror. Integrating our brilliant intellect with our fierce heart is the task of this lunation. What do we yearn for - and if our head disagrees, is there a way to negotiate? With Eclipse Season looming, this is an opportunity to lay the groundwork so that we enter the next chapter with courage, fortitude, and alignment.
